It is a struggle both within and outside the organized church asking themselves “what is wrong with the church of Jesus Christ?” it does not take a genius to observe the difference between the predecessors of the Christian faith and those who profess the same faith today .The predecessors of Christian faith seemed to believe in something that they were even willing to die for and they indeed gave their lives; Many of the professors of this faith today seem to believe in nothing. There seems to be no difference between the ‘old person’ and the ‘new’. Apostle Paul declares of the believers.
Here in Kenya the leaders were surprised when the so called Christians including their pastors turned to kill each other in 2007-2008 ethnic-cum-political crises.
Jesus' ministry could be observed in two different areas; -To the crowd or masses -To the disciples These two groups were distinct. Here lies the problem of the church today, there is no distinction between the disciples and the masses. The church leaders have confused masses (crowds) to disciples hence the church buildings and halls are full but there is no new way of life. Here in Kenya the leaders were surprised when the so called Christians turned to kill each other including their pastors in 2007-2008 ethnic-cum-political crises. The church leaders could not believe that they were hiding from their own followers and some of the deacons and so called elders.
For the church to be of any benefit to our world, she must return to making disciples rather than Christianizing the communities without touching the heart which is the problem of the fallen creature called ‘human being’ The problem of the church is making masses for media publicity's sake rather than making Disciples who in turn will make a difference in their communities. By making Disciples the arguments and counter arguments of such life styles as homosexuals, abortions and the likes will be irrelevant, at least among the Disciples. Will these problems disappear among the Disciples? This may not happen but at least those lifestyles will retain their name as the God of Jesus' Disciples calls it; ‘sin’ in need of repentance and forsaking, if there would be any relationship with this Holy God. Making disciples is Jesus commission not masses.
